Tank Monitoring Bundle 2 — 2 x STAR-Tank + Victron Nucleo GX + GX Touch 50
2 x STAR-Tank radar sensors with Victron Nucleo GX and GX Touch 50 — save $313.65 on separate RRP.
Complete phased-coherent radar tank monitoring for two tanks, with Victron system integration and a dedicated touch display. The bundle contains 2 x STAR-Tank Phased Coherent Radar Tank Sensor (water or fuel, your choice), 1 x Victron Nucleo GX communication centre and 1 x Victron GX Touch 50 display, and saves $313.65 against buying the three separately. The sensors are battery-powered and wireless, so there is no tank cutting and no calibration rig. Tell us water or fuel for each sensor when you order.
About this product
Everything needed to put two tanks on a Victron system, and nothing that has to be cut into a tank or wired back to a panel. Two STAR-Tank radar sensors, a Victron Nucleo GX communication centre and a Victron GX Touch 50 - $313.65 less together than the four cost apart.
Buy the sensors on their own and you have half a system. A STAR-Tank carries no cable and no connections at all, which is exactly the point of it - but it is commissioned and calibrated from the GX end, never from the sensor. That is what makes this a bundle rather than a discount: the GX is not an accessory to the sensors, it is the half that makes them readable.
The discount is not sprinkled evenly over the box, either. The sensors come at full RRP and the whole $313.65 comes off the two Victron items - which is why the saving is the same figure whether you monitor two tanks or four, and why it bites hardest here, on the smallest of the three bundles.
Nothing goes inside either tank
On polyethylene, plastic or fibreglass the radar reads straight through the tank wall, so nothing is cut and nothing is drilled: a base plate bonds to the top of each tank, and once cured the sensor screws onto it. There is no float to jam, no probe to corrode and no sender loom to run between the two tanks and the panel - the only thing travelling between them is Bluetooth.
Victron wrote the STAR-Tank section, not us
Support for these sensors is not something Safiery bolted onto Victron's system - it is in Victron's own manual, where the Nucleo GX handbook carries a section for the Safiery STAR-Tank next to the ones for Mopeka and Ruuvi. Setup is the whole of it: switch Bluetooth sensors on under Settings, Integrations, and both sensors appear in the list to be enabled and named. Nothing to install, nothing to adapt, no GX Tank 140 in between - the GX in this box already carries the radio the sensors talk t…
Fresh, grey, black or fuel - your choice of two
Radar measures the distance down to the liquid surface rather than floating on it or listening through it, so foam and gas above the line do not throw the reading. That is what lets one sensor cover fresh, grey and black water equally well - the tanks that defeat a float are the ones it handles best. Fuel is measured a different way, by timing the signal down to a metal plate at the bottom of the tank and back, so tell us which of your two is which.
One button each, and they tune themselves
A tank is a box full of reflections. Press and hold the black button on a sensor for about ten seconds and it runs a startup routine that picks the dominant line-of-sight return out of that clutter, then locks to it. The ring LED holds solid red while it works and turns solid green when it is done. Then you do the second one - setting up two sensors is the one-sensor procedure, twice.
Works with
- The Victron GX in this bundle — Both sensors enable under Settings, Integrations, Bluetooth sensors
- An existing Victron system — 2 x VE.Direct, 2 x VE.Can and 3 x USB on the Nucleo GX
- VRM remote monitoring — Through the GX, plus local browser and VictronConnect
- A MultiPlus or Quattro inverter/charger — Not directly
- Marine MFD — Via the STAR-Tank to MFD interface kit
- A third or fourth tank — This bundle covers two

Questions
Can I have one water sensor and one fuel sensor?
Yes, and it is a common split. The two sensors are the same hardware but water and fuel are measured by different methods, so tell us which way you want them when you order. A fuel tank additionally needs a metal reflector plate at the bottom, centred under the sensor, because the fuel reading is timed off that plate.
Why buy the bundle rather than the sensors on their own?
Because a STAR-Tank cannot be commissioned without the GX side - it has no cable and no connections, and it is calibrated from the GX end. If you have no Victron GX yet, the sensors alone will not give you a tank reading. The bundle prices the sensors at full RRP and puts the whole discount on the two Victron items, which saves $313.65.
I already have a Cerbo GX. Do I need this?
No. If you already run a GX device with Bluetooth, buy the sensors on their own - the bundle exists for people building the monitoring side from scratch. Talk to us either way and we will tell you honestly which is cheaper for your system.
Do I need a GX Tank 140?
No. The sensors talk to the GX device directly over Bluetooth, so there is no tank-sender input to wire and no Tank 140 in between. That is true whether you have two tanks or four.
Can I add a third tank later?
Yes - add another STAR-Tank sensor and enable it the same way. Nothing in the GX has to change. If you already know you have three or four tanks, Bundle 3 and Bundle 4 are the same kit with the extra sensors included.
Will it work on a metal tank?
Yes, but the radar cannot see through steel or aluminium, so a hole is cut and the sensor mounts to the SAE 5-bolt pattern built into its base, sealed with gas sealing tape. Note the warranty differs for that installation: 1 year, against 5 years excluding the battery for an above-tank non-metallic install.
Can I read the tanks on my phone?
Not from the sensors directly - their radio is advertising-output only and is intended for a Victron GX. You read the tanks through the GX, and remotely through the VRM portal or the VictronConnect app.
Do I need to tell you my tank depth before I order?
No. The measuring range is set during setup once the sensors arrive, not fixed at the factory and not chosen when you order. The only thing we need from you is which of the two sensors is water and which is fuel.
