Safiery Solid State Lithium 48V 53.1Ah 2,712Wh — 3C 7,500W

Top-spec 48V semi-solid state pack with a 3C (150A) BMS — 7,500W discharge for high-power marine drive.

150A / 7,500W discharge. A single pack runs a 5,000VA inverter; multiples scale to 15–40kW marine electric motors.

About this product

Semi-solid state LiFePO4: a mostly solid ceramic electrolyte in place of most of the liquid, sixteen wafer cells in a steel frame, and a CAN BMS that talks straight to a Victron GX.

A conventional lithium cell is soaked in liquid electrolyte, and in a lithium fire that liquid is the fuel. Here a mostly solid ceramic electrolyte replaces most of it: 3-5% liquid remains as a wetting agent, so this is semi-solid state, not a fully solid cell. The chemistry is lithium iron phosphate, which holds its oxygen in strong phosphate bonds.

The BMS watches every cell group and has separate charge and discharge MOSFETs, so it can stop charging at a cell's limit, or when it is too cold to charge, and still run your loads. On CAN it sets a Victron GX's charge limits and puts the lowest and highest cell voltage and temperature on the screen.

It is rated for 10,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge. The warranty is three years, or five when a CAN-controlled system manages its charging and discharging. The 12, 24 and 48 V models are the same sixteen 3.2 V cells wired three ways, and their cases lock together to stack.

Works with

  • Victron GX (Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX) — VE.Can at 250 kbit/s
  • More batteries in parallel — Copper straps and RS485 OUT to IN
  • Batteries in series — Parallel only
  • Safiery Scotty AI DC-DC — The slim case mounts on the battery
  • Bluetooth app — Not on this model

Questions

Is this a solid-state battery?

Semi-solid state. The electrolyte is a mostly solid ceramic with 3-5% liquid as a wetting agent, so it holds far less liquid than a conventional lithium cell, but it is not a fully solid cell.

Can I connect them in series for a higher voltage?

No. They join in parallel only. Choose the 12, 24 or 48 V model for your system voltage, and add batteries in parallel for more capacity.

Does it work with Victron?

Yes. Connect the CAN port to a Victron GX's VE.Can at 250 kbit/s. The battery has a 120 ohm termination built in, and a blue Victron CAN plug may be needed if it is the only CAN connection. It sets the charge limits and shows the lowest and highest cell voltage and temperature.

How do I link several batteries?

Join them with the copper straps, then run RS485 from OUT on the master to IN on the next, and so on. Press Reset/On on the master and the rest come on after it. A red flash on the master means a fault or a loose connection in the string.

What does 10,000 cycles mean?

It is the rated cycle life at 80% depth of discharge. The warranty is separate: three years, or five when the battery stays connected to a CAN-controlled system that manages its charging and discharging (see the warranty policy).

How should I store it?

For storage longer than three months, leave it at about 50% charge, check it every six months, and keep it below 85% humidity.
