STAR-Light V2 is the lighting specialist of Safiery's STAR digital-switching range: a 12-channel wireless controller purpose-built for vehicle, canopy and camper lighting circuits. Its siblings are sized differently — STAR-Power (12 channels, up to 150A total) is built for main distribution panels carrying high-current loads, while STAR-Rover (4×15A, IP65) is the compact option for tight or harsh mounting spots like engine rooms and under-seat cavities. STAR-Light V2 sits between them with the most channels dedicated to lighting: 12 channels of up to 10A each (40A total), 8 of which are dimmable, and two wired as full RGBW colour outputs with double-press switching between white and colour modes. Like the rest of the range it runs CAN bus, long-range Bluetooth and Matter WiFi simultaneously, so it can talk to Victron gear, wired CAN keypads and a phone app at the same time (Matter support ships from Q3 2025 — earlier units need a trip back to Safiery to load the certificate, since it can't be applied over the air). A single controller supports up to 80 wireless switches and up to 6 buttons per channel, so large or duplicated switch layouts run off the one controller rather than needing separate boxes. Protection is fuseless — a short trips the circuit within 80 microseconds, and each channel's current threshold and trip delay (10A / 1 second by default) are user-adjustable. Against Redarc's TVMS Rogue, STAR-Light V2 offers 12 channels to the Rogue's 10, an anodised-aluminium case instead of plastic, RGBW colour the Rogue doesn't have, and pairs with Safiery's 7-inch STAR-Touch screen (plus up to 5 tanks) versus the Rogue's 2-tank RedVision display.

STAR-Light V2 is the lighting specialist of the STAR range. Twelve channels at up to 10A each, 40A across the controller, eight of them dimmable and two wired as full RGBW colour outputs. Where STAR-Power is built for the main distribution panel and the loads that pull real current, this one is built for the circuits you actually touch every night: canopy strips, awning lights, interior, work lights.
It runs CAN, long-range Bluetooth and Matter over WiFi at the same time, so it answers a Victron system, a wired CAN keypad and a phone app at once. One controller carries up to eighty wireless switches and up to six buttons per channel, which is what keeps a big or duplicated switch layout on one box instead of three.
One button. Press for white, press twice for amber
Two channels are wired as full RGBW, and a double-press on any switch flips that light between white and colour - or between two colour presets you set. Same light, same button, no second switch and no second circuit. White while you are working in the canopy, amber once you are sitting outside it.
Set the trip per circuit, and carry no fuses
Protection is fuseless: a short is detected and opened in hardware in eighty millionths of a second, faster than a fuse can part. What makes it a lighting controller rather than a generic one is that each channel's threshold and trip delay are yours to set - 10A and one second by default - so an awning motor's inrush and a strip light's steady draw do not have to share a compromise.
Switch it from whatever is already in your hand
Switch from your phone in its own digital switching app, from CarPlay on the dash, from an Alexa Show, or from Home Assistant. Matter is the open standard smart devices agree on, so the lighting is not tied to one company's app and one company's roadmap - and it runs over WiFi alongside CAN and Bluetooth rather than instead of them.
It appears in the Victron system you already run
CAN on NMEA-style connectors, and NMEA is the marine dialect of CAN - so one cable puts STAR-Light on the same network a Victron Cerbo GX already lives on, and NMEA-compliant multi-function displays can drive the channels directly. A touch screen mirrors the controller's real state however a channel was switched, so the screen and the lights never disagree.

Questions
Which channels actually dim?
Channels 1-4 and 9-12 - eight of the twelve. Channels 5-8 are not dimmable, although they can still drive an RGBW light with a limited colour selection. Plan the cable run around it: fading strips on a dimmable channel, on/off loads on the rest.
How does the white-to-amber trick work?
Two channels are wired as full RGBW. A double-press on any switch assigned to that channel flips the light between white and colour, or between two colour presets you have set. One button, one light, two states - no second switch and no second circuit.
I bought mine before Q3 2025 - do I have Matter?
Matter ships on units from Q3 2025 onward. An earlier unit needs to come back to Safiery to have the certificate loaded, because it cannot be applied over the air. Everything else - CAN, Bluetooth, the app - works exactly the same either way.
Can I put a bigger load on one channel?
No. It is 10A per channel and 40A across the controller, and the per-channel trip is there to enforce it. A winch, a compressor or a water heater belongs on STAR-Power, which carries 100A and has six 30A channels for exactly that.
What supply cable and fuse does it need?
8mm2 minimum on the supply and a 50A maximum fuse. That fuse is the supply protection - it is not the current the controller passes, which is 40A.
