Quasar Master
Quasar Master is Quasar ONE with a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 slotted into the same carrier board, running Home Assistant. Matter devices, 50+ integrations and every Quasar signal come together in one open system that lives on the boat. No Apple or Google account is needed to add a device or make it do something, and all of it keeps working with no internet
The new Quasar Carrier board carries the Quasar ONE electronics: two processors, NMEA 2000, a second isolated CAN port for J1939, RV-C or CANopen, RS485 Modbus, the LIN switch bus, LTE with a global eSIM, GNSS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a five-port managed switch with WAN and LAN ports. Without the CM5 puck it is a Quasar ONE. Slot the puck in and it is a Quasar Master. Home Assistant runs on the CM5, on the internal network behind the switch. Quasar ONE keeps the buses, the safety rules and the link to the Quasar Twin. Home Assistant brings the open world in. Matter devices join the boat directly. Home Assistant is the Matter controller on board. Scan the Matter code on a new light, plug, lock, blind, fan, thermostat or sensor and it joins Home Assistant's own Matter network, over Wi-Fi or over Thread with the Thread radio fitted. Nearly 2,000 products carry the Matter mark. No Apple Home or Google Home hub, no Apple or Google account, and nothing sent to their cloud to pair it. The device belongs to the boat, not to a phone ecosystem. Automations written on board and kept on board. Departure, arrival, bedtime and storage are scenes. Set them up on the display or the phone, or ask Quasar by voice, and Home Assistant stores them on the CM5. They run at anchor, in a marina with no signal and after a long lay-up, with no account or subscription to keep alive. If the owner later wants Siri or Google voice, Home Assistant can share the boat with Apple Home or Google Home. That is a choice, not a step. Open source, so it keeps growing. Home Assistant is open source, run by the Open Home Foundation and thousands of contributors. On top of Matter it brings the 50+ integrations that count on a boat: Starlink dish status, LG webOS screens, Sonos and Spotify, ONVIF and RTSP cameras, Shelly shore power kits, Zigbee and Z-Wave with a USB stick, Bluetooth temperature and humidity sensors, weather and tides, calendars, and the phone app with push alerts and location. New products clip in the day they ship, with no wait for a Safiery driver. Live displays and live health, one open connection each. The 8 in and 15.6 in 3D touch displays, the Quasar Glass panels and the Quasar health monitor each hold a persistent WebSocket to Home Assistant. State is pushed the instant it changes, commands and confirmations travel on the same connection, and none of it leaves the boat. The 3D displays spin, roll and switch to X-ray view to show tanks, batteries, pumps and wiring inside the hull. What the connection gives, and how health uses it, is overleaf.
