Flow Batteries have a significant place in Energy Storage

They have these properties:

However, there is a voltage constraint:

  • Flow batteries natively operate at 48-70V DC
  • It is difficult or impossible to place flow batteries in series at higher voltage.
  • Solar MPPT and high voltage DC busses with wind power operate at 750V to 1250V DC.
  • During maintenance some flow batteries require the low side to drop to 0.0 V DC.

Safiery have a modular DC DC solution:

  • One DC DC per flow battery cell giving ultimate control per cell.
  • Distributed control for maximum system reliability.
  • Scalable up to 1 GWh of storage, with C5 Charge/Discharge.
  • Isolated DC DC with 48V nominal on Low Side.
  • Up to 1,250V DC on High Side.
  • Bi-directional.
  • LS Voltage can drop to 0.0 V on Low Side during maintenance mode.
