240V Power Active Sense

MONITORING
for LOSS of SITE POWER
Have you the frustration of a flashing “low battery alarm” only to find the 240V input had dropped out?
Its happened to me on both the boat and the caravan.
The solution is quite a simple one.
Monitor the 240V power inlet for loss of power.
Our 240V current sensor measures the AC current flowing in and displays the power in watts on the Pico.
Simply set the alarm at the lowest acceptable power level in watts.
If this is a large power boat with multiple power inlets, you can have each inlet monitored.
Each sensor is set for the maximum power input.
- 15A for RV applications and
- 30A+ for Marine applications.
Order the AC current sensor with the Simarine system and select the current flow.

Simple Shunt Install
.
Have you installed multiple shunts on the negative side of the master battery bank?
I have seen up to 6 different shunts picking up power inputs and drains. They are typically installed just before the mast shunter on the battery.
This has its problems:
- Concentration of cabling
- Significant realestate taken up
- Confusion on the current flow direction
- Maintenance nightmare.
SIMARINE shunt devices:
- Installed on positive or negative side of battery
- Four low power (less than 25Amp) circuits on one device
- For greater then 25A, just bridge the channels in 25A blocks
- Protection on each channel
- Wire up in the most convenient and clean manner, no need to check the current flow direction when wiring.
- Current direction can be “reversed in software”
Greatest Feature:
- No need for a master battery shunt
- Simply “add” the sum of all the shunts, both on the positive and negative side of battery for total battery current draw.
- Add a large shunt on the inverter currect draw
- Multiple 500A shunts can be used for large loads.
Benefits are:
- Faster installation of cabling and shunts
- Wiring is neat and clean without overlays to change current direction
- Adding up total shunt current is a breeze
Lowest Installation costs
Installation time and cabling costs can hide the true cost of a system installed in a caravan or motorhome.
In manufacturing, costs are impacted by:
- Every “connection” (junction) has a time cost to complete and check.
- Every “connection” (junction) is a potential source of error, so lowest count is key.
- Higher current connections are best terminated with a clamping plate rather than a “screw down” connection.
- Plug in terminal blocks can be added to a loom and assembled into the device easier than direct wiring.
- Communication cable between the monitoring devices has to be simple, thin and easy to pass through conduits.
- Devices need to easily show they have power and are communicating when installed.
- Wiring diagrams need to be identical for each device for each RV. Keep is very simple.
The good news is that SIMARINE listened to many manufacturers to get installation costs low.
- SIMARINE have lowest count of “connections”. Power is transmitted down the twisted pair that goes to each device eliminating the need for addition power cabling and fuses.
- SIMARINE use screw down clamping plates on the 25A current shunts. On current loads above this, round washers and locking nuts are used.
- SIMARINE use plug in terminal blocks that can be added to a loom for all sensor cabling.
- SIMARINE use a simple twisted pair communication cable between the monitoring devices with a telephone jack added at either end.
- SIMARINE devices utilize a flashing LED to confirm power and communication health.
- SIMARINE wiring diagrams can be easily identified and marked each device for each RV. It is kept very simple.
The best news is the programing time:
- SIMARINE systems are easily configured and programed using a smartphone.
- SIMARINE systems are easily “saved’ to the smartphone with a name you choose.
- SIMARINE systems are then easily loaded from the saved phone to future similar systems in seconds.
- PROGRAM once, save and then reuse.
- This eliminates sources of error in configuration. It assures you for consistency and quality.
