Summary
Product Name
Safiery Powercase 5000W 48V 212.4Ah 10.8kWh Extended — Pelican 1200
Overview
The Powercase 5000W Extended is the top of the Pelican range. Built into a Pelican 1200 cargo case (1200 × 550 × 465mm), it runs four Safiery Solid State 48V 53.1Ah 2C lithium batteries in parallel (10.8kWh total) with the same 5000W Victron inverter/charger and front-panel layout as the smaller cases.
Four batteries in parallel give a combined 20000W discharge rating — four times the inverter’s continuous output. That headroom keeps the system stable under sustained heavy loads, and quadruples the runtime of the single-battery configuration.
How it works
Same layout as the smaller cases, with four times the battery capacity.
- 240V AC out via four GPO outlets on the front panel
- 240V AC in via a 15A IP44 shore power inlet
- Two solar inputs (fixed and portable) with separate Victron MPPT controllers
- Amphenol input ready for a Safiery Scotty DC-DC charger for vehicle charging, which can be wired in parallel runs to reduce cabling size requirements
- 12V Anderson output for accessory loads
The Victron GX Touch 50 display shows live system data. Remote monitoring through Victron VRM via the built-in 4G modem.
Use case
Remote sites, multi-day off-grid setups, mobile workshops running heavy equipment all day, and event hire where reliable 240V is needed without a generator. Pairs well with a 1000W+ solar array.
Fits in larger vehicle tubs and tray-backs. Trolley wheels make it manageable when removed, but two-person lift is required due to weight.
System Configuration
Battery Four Safiery Solid State Lithium 48V 53.1Ah (2712Wh each, 10848Wh total) 2C variants in parallel. Combined 20000W discharge rating — four times the inverter’s continuous output. Long cycle life, built-in BMS on each module.
Inverter / Charger Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000. 5000W continuous 240V AC, 10000W peak. Built-in 70A battery charger when shore power is connected.
Solar Two Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/20 controllers.
- One for fixed solar
- One for portable solar
System Monitor Victron Cerbo GX with GX Touch 50 display. VRM enabled via 4G modem.
Vehicle Charging — Scotty DC-DC The case is pre-wired to accept a Safiery Scotty DC-DC charger. When the case is connected to the vehicle’s 12V cranking battery, the Scotty charges the 48V Powercase from the alternator while the engine is running.
Protection
- RCBO for inverter input and outputs
- Battery isolator switch for the batteries
- DC solar isolator
- Smart BatteryProtect for 12V accessory loads
Connections
- 2 × 240V Double GPO outlets
- 1 × 15A IP44 AC shore power inlet
- 2 × Anderson solar inputs (fixed and portable)
- 1 × Anderson 12V output for accessory loads
- STAR-Light module for lighting control (Matter control available)
Cooling Twin thermostatically controlled cooling fans.
Enclosure Pelican 1200 cargo case, 1200 × 550 × 465mm. IP67 rated, UV stable, impact resistant. Trolley wheels fitted. Larger footprint to fit the four-battery configuration.
Important Installation Notes
Charger advisory 240V AC charging is built in via the inlet for the MultiPlus-II. For vehicle charging, the Scotty DC-DC charger must be connected via the temp probe and sense wire. The alternator supply then comes into the Amphenol plugs. Internally these have been wired in parallel to support customers who need to run parallel cabling for CCC rating.
Wiring, voltage drop, and voltage lock-out Vehicle charging requires correctly sized cabling for the full run length.
- Voltage drop — Undersized wiring reduces charging efficiency.
- Voltage lock-out — The Scotty operates on voltage thresholds. When the engine runs, alternator voltage allows the Scotty to charge.
- Automatic isolation — When the engine stops, the Scotty switches state from charge to discharge and the BatteryProtect isolates 12V accessory loads.
Weight consideration The 10.8kWh model is significantly heavier than the smaller versions. Two-person lift is required when removing from a vehicle tub.
